WEEK 11 KITCHEN RENO May 4, 2016 Let There Be Light!

WEEK 11 KITCHEN RENO May 4, 2016 Let There Be Light!

The electrician was finally able to attend to the Carter kitchen. We have a beautiful new overhead light and fan. We also have a recessed light over the sink which we never had before. Then the fan over the stove can bring more light into the space. The light is plentiful, easy on the eyes and the fixture is beautiful. Lowe’s electrician, Jung Electric, LLC, did a very nice job. Thanks Steve.IMG_0901IMG_0911IMG_0903

WEEK 9 KITCHEN RENO April 21, 2016 Getting Closer to Done

WEEK 9 KITCHEN RENOVATION April 21, 2016 Getting Closer to Done

The anticipation of completion of the kitchen is running amuck. The cabinets now have crown molding, the subway tile is in, the stove has been delivered to the garage and I can feel and taste how beautiful this new kitchen will be. I am thinking of a change order to put more subway tile around the stove area. Also, looking forward to a Mother’s Day Open House of the kitchen for my family and a second open house for other friends, students, clients……

WEEK 8 KITCHEN RENO Wednesday, April 13 The Counter Tops Are IN

April 13th, 2016 by susanne

WEEK 8 KITCHEN RENOVATION: Wednesday, April 13, 2016 The Counter Tops Are IN!

Since March 17th we have been waiting for counter tops. We wait. We wait. We wait. That is my mantra. Actually was a nice thing since we had house guests during this time.

BUT NOW the Counter Tops are IN. Amazing how the counter tops pull everything together. It won’t be long before it is all done. But patience is a virtue. Also good news, Lowe’s will sponsor an Open House when all is said and done. We love working with Lowe’s and the entire staff and contractors. They have been GREAT.

WEEK 4 KITCHEN RENOVATION:  March 17, 2016 The Waiting Game

Happy St. Patrick’s Day as the Carter Production household is in a holding pattern. The counter tops have been measured. NOW, it is a waiting game……..ohm………….Actually, Lowe’s prepared us for this part of the kitchen demo reno. They reminded us that after the counter tops are measured it will take awhile before they will be installed. No other work is happening. My kitchen is quiet. OHM! Maybe a good thing since we will be having house guests amid this renovation. Glad it is an early spring.

WEEK 3 KITCHEN RENO: Wed. March 9, 2016 Slow and Steady

Slow and Steady wins the race are the words of wisdom in week three of Kitchen Renovation in the Carter Productions household. Countertops still need to be measured and then it is a waiting game. We are working with LOWE’s and have been very pleased so far. Sure glad we have had some warm weather so we can open windows and bless the new kitchen and the rest of our living space with some fresh air since there are smells of the food in the air we ate the night before. The downside of kitchen reno.

The new radiator is like a work of art.

WEEK TWO KITCHEN RENO March 1, 2016 Odd Moments

WEEK TWO KITCHEN RENO March 1, 2016 Odd Moments

Okay, so the floor is in, one coat of paint and progress is being made. But here are the odd moments that take place in a kitchen reno.

The sound of dishes rattling which you are washing and then drying on top of the clothes dryer in the basement.

A picnic table in the living room which is really my dance studio which usually is empty but is now filled with dishes, refrigerator, picnic table, George Forman Grill, flooring, coffee maker, slow cooker, microwave, garbage cans ALL of which reminds you this is NO PICNIC.

Getting ready to smell spring flowers because you have spring fever so bad but first must rid your nose of the smell of one coat of paint, Saffron Ivory, which reminds you of the spring sun!

Flicking of lights as the refrigerator runs and hums.

But the excitement of the cabinets being installed makes me salivate!

WEEK ONE KITCHEN RENO February 26, 2016 Creatures of Habit

KITCHEN RENO

February 26, 2016

Creatures of Habit

So, the kitchen has been torn apart and we have set up operations through out the house.

The refrigerator is in the dance studio living room along with our old kitchen table, crock pot,

George Forman grill, microwave, coffee maker, toaster. One big bucket is for dirty dishes which

we fill and then clean in the basement and then bring back up. Doing dishes with the washer and dryer

sets a new precedent. Basically just creatures of habit. We also had our first and I hope last change order.

Gas line for the new stove. This is going to be quite a journey.

DAY 3 KITCHEN RENO February 19, 2016 Bare Bones

February 19th, 2016 by susanne

DAY 3 KITCHEN RENO February 19, 2016 Bare Bones

OKAY, we left in the soffits for a long, clean, sleek line

we hope that will go with the cabinets.

AND now we are BARE BONES. The kitchen is now empty,

the makeshift kitchen is in my dance studio and we will

be getting a new radiator. I have to say the infrastructure looks

good.
